This piece got it's name from the Japanese block print "The Great Wave Off Kanagawa". As I was shaping it, it appeared to look like the wave depicted in the original print. After the main part was shaped, I created a base that resembled the "Great Wave". The base is made out of barn board siding. I also included some maple inlays across the length of the base.
