Abstract Art Piece "90"
This piece is a small cutoff piece of Barn Maple. I highlighted this cutoff as the growth rings start in the middle and radiate out to the ends. In that small amount of space, there are around 90 growth rings. Which is why it's called "90". So when you think about it, this board was growing in the woods for a minimum of 90 years before it was cut into lumber and install in a barn for a minimum of 80 years.
That means that the board is a minimum of 170 years old.
The board is held together by 2 Oak splines and is suspended by a steel bolt that runs through the base and is allowed to naturally rust.
The base being a piece of reclaimed Elm that was salvaged from the same barn.
The highlighted piece and the base both have a side that has been as untouched as possible in order to give the contrast of the original lumber look and the current polished/machined look.
Felt footies are installed on the base.
A great little conversation piece to have on your bookshelf, mantel, or countertop.
